Growing up as a child in the 80s, I had an older sister who was very influential in my music taste.
Like all children, I listened to Disney and Raffi, but I had a second music education that came from my teenaged sister. She was 13 years older than me and if she liked Pink Floyd, I liked Pink Floyd.
MTV was on our TV constantly, so I absorbed the latest Paula Abdul or Pat Benatar videos like a sponge absorbs water. I wanted to be Susanna Hoffs in the Walk Like an Egyptian video. I wanted to see Tiffany in her famous mall tour.
The women of 1980s pop are an incredible group. This collection is dedicated to Whitney, Pat, Paula, Debbie, Cyndi, and all the fantastic women of this generation.
