The Sex + The City Collection
“Some people are settling down, some people are settling, and some people refuse to settle for anything less than butterflies.”
-Carrie Bradshaw, Sex & The City
This colorful collection is dedicated to the heart-to-hearts and hilarious chaos of my college years and beyond. When rainy Saturdays meant Sex & The City marathons in our sorority house, takeout on the floor, and long debates over who was a Carrie or a Samantha. I was definitely a Charlotte.
While the show centered on love and dating, what stuck with me was theme of friendship. There’s something special about the friends you make in your 20s, at a time when you’re just learning how to be independent and on your own.
These friendships become part of your new identity as an adult, and I love that my college friends are still just one text away from laughing and crying over the ups and downs of life.
These paintings also celebrate the iconic style of the 2000s, the freedom, and the comfort that comes from rewatching your favorite episode when life gets messy.
